In his photographic work, fine art photographer and neuroscientist Hennric Jokeit explores the complex relations between medical science and art. By creating photographic negatives that prey upon the viewer’s visual perception, Jokeit’s ‚negative visions‘ surprise and stimulate the brain and therefore invite the viewer to take a closer look at the presented photographic reality. In doing so, Jokeit evokes notions of mystery and melancholy in his depictions of urban architecture as well as natural settings. Nevertheless, Jokeit’s photographs carry the important and underlying message of hope within them — „a hope that is often located precisely in the gap between realtiy and wishful thinking.“
